The time is drawing closer. I head on over to London this coming Saturday (20 June) where I will have about 3weeks to get over the jet lag and put in the finally touches of my preparation for the Quelle Roth Challenge Ironman on July 12.
It will be good to have some of my old training partners during this crucial final stage as it has been quite difficult training solo out here in Australia for the past two months or so. And the weather has not been very helpful either with many training sessions done in torrential downpours (pictured above); and as the Australian winter takes grip, temperatures are dropping and we have had a couple of morning's frost already.
Nevertheless, my preparation for Roth has been pretty much flawless. The extra amount of time I have had to train and recover has really had a huge impact and I don't think I have ever felt this strong in all three disciplines before, even when I was racing and training as a professional in France. It will be interesting to see how things go in Roth.
On other fronts, Kate has found a brilliant job in the city and although the commute from the Central Coast, where we are staying at the moment, is a bit arduous we will be moving into our own pad on our return from Roth mid-July. The new pad is in Wahroonga which is only a 30mins train ride north of Sydney CBD and just south of the Ku-ring gai National park which should be good for training. So we are both looking forward to the new surroundings and getting settled down.
Laters,
Simon
